I added a few more things:

exceptions now work with text/textarea (not the text inside the input, but the input box itself)

works with the product import/export

cart only options will always be displayed in cart while the rest of the opts can be hidden/shown (on cart load they will be hidden to hide all the clutter)

...and a clarification, this mod does not include a global product options mod, but should be compatible with others and also my next project which will be to do a global product options template inheritance mod which is what I was referring to
