Thanks so very much for your reply Balinor. From your reply I'm not sure if you are thinking I'm attempting to edit the HTML catalog directly, which of course I know I can do even though it would be overwritten the next time I generate.
I was referring to the webmaster mode editable source page for the catalog, which for me resides at

Why is the site no longer dynamic?
Can you direct me to a reference that explains something about how I can edit the dynamic (php) site?
