Default Re: Customization Question

For the most part, your templates will have to be "dealt with"...

This doesn't always mean re-doing everything. If you use a good ftp client w/ linked or integrated text editor, you can "comapre" the files and without too much pain, compare the changes and simply bring yours up-to-date.

Templates typically don't have massive changes -- in fact, very few templates were involved in the 4.1.2 to .3, .4, .5 and .6 upgrades. Most of the time, the files are the php and non "skin1" files... but there are/will be template files... but as I said, there are ways around this.

When upgrading, my outbursts to X-CArt ranged from "I HATE YOU" to "wow, this was easy."

My key to upgrade survival is my master changelog. I have a text file that I document EVERY edit, every change. I go crazy when 3rd party mod developers or xcart "fix things" without telling me specifically what they did.

If you keep track of your edits and changes, and use a text editor with a "compare" feature, you should be in pretty good shape. No worries!
