Is there any write up's or can someone give me any tips on setting up predefined drop down menu's on the search page?

Example: my client will be selling home plans, we want to give the user predefined values in drop down menu's.

For example:
Bedrooms: drop down menu with a choice of 1 thru 6.

Another example:
Square foot range: drop down menu with a choice of 1-2000, 2001-3000, 3001-4000, 4001-5000, 5001+

Can I just hardcode this in?
