I went one step further -- I disabled 2 and 3-day options to all zone 1 zip codes (I left next-day morning there for those no-budget types that have to have it by 10:30am or else - BUT - I also put a line of text in my shipping info:

X-cart shipping can be a brain-warping-cluster-f***, but it's very powerful once you get it. it ony took me a few days of around the clock insanity.
