Thanks vixnfox, It turns out the invalid character was a space, I was including everything up to th word "value" as the "variable" but more correctly it is

"Select topic" > label (or text I guess)

"Variable" > lbl_faqmenu_swarovski

"Value" > name Swarovski FAQ, Value Swarovski Crystals
