Welcome to X-Cart! No need to do that, you can just hide certain pieces by using comments in the code. If you use the forum search, you can find threads that will show you how to hide prices, the add-to cart button, etc. The main templates you want to edit will be home.tpl, products.tpl or products_t.tpl and product.tpl.
