What I'm trying to do is rather using multiple images for "Thumbnail", "Product Image", & "Detailed Image".....I would prefer to upload 1 large image and have it automatically scaled.

You could use the smarty {thumb} plugin from http://www.cerdmann.com/thumb/

It's default behavior scales down the image to your specifications and opens the full sized image in a new window when it is clicked.
