Default text and vertical menus...
 

OK, I have been trying to edit my cart but ther is more to it then what files are listed in the FAQ... How do I get rid of the default text on the home page? You know the one that says "This is a demo store powered by the X-Cart and based on PHP4 template technology and integrated with a SQL database. It is a fully functional store, as a buyer you can browse products, put products into your cart and check out. As an administrator you can add categories, products and change the look and feel of your store. If you have any questions please contact us.

This might seem simple, but is doesn't show up in a text search... Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, I would like to place my vertical menus i.e. Catagories, manufacturers, ect. closer together. Where can I go this at?

In your admin section, go to languages, select english, on the next page put in txt_welcome as a search filter and select text from the drop-down menu.

I believe it will be there. At any rate, it's stored in the language database.

You'll need to edit it for each language you use, if you use more than just english.

You can also edit that welcome area further outside the database by editing /skin1/customer/main/welcome.tpl

Not sure which menus your talking about, but if I assume correctly you need to edit /skin1/customer/home.tpl

1) Ok, in your admin site, go to menus under "administration". There is one called "languages".

2) Click on it. At the top, it should say, "Edit Languages". Much of the standard text in Xcart are stored in files with language variables.

3) No, there should be a dropdown menu asking to "select one" (a language). Select the one you want to edit, I assume English.

4) It should bring you to a new page with the language entries. There is a filter option. In the first dropdown, select "text". Click on it and wait.

5) Now, in the "aplly filter" dropdown, put in "txt_welcome" and wait. It should bring up the file and you edit it there and then click "apply change".

I am using version 4.0.3 but I am sure it will be close to what I posted. Try putting your version and stuff like that in your "signature", it helps.
