Free postage question

Hi I am trying to set free postage on an item, but only within the UK. Is this possible? I have looked on the X cart guide and it says you can set free postage on 'items range' but unsure what this is. Tried to set this but it only allowed input of numbers in the range. Using 5.3

You can configure free shipping methods that will apply to customers from UK, but I'm not sure about doing this on the product level.
Most likely a custom module is needed to change the behaviour as you describe.
