Read more link on homepage
 

Does anyone know if its possible to have a readmore link in the homepage welcome message? I want it so that you see only the first few lines of text but when the read more link is clicked it expands out to show the remainder of the text. Any Help as to if this is possible and how would be greatly appreciated

It is possible. You can simply use jQuery to shorten the message and expand on link click. Tons of example online, just Google it

I did try that but doesn't seem to work. I am using webmaster mode and pasting it in to the pop up should I be putting it somewhere else? :?

You can't use Webmaster mode for something line this. Changes must be made directly in templates.

The welcome message shows from skin/common_files/customer/main/welcome.tpl. It is a language variable txt_welcome which you can modify.
You can insert the necessary js code in this template as well.

2nd thoughts that looks way too complicated for me to even attempt. I wouldn't know where to start with that file. Oh well back to the drawing board :oops:
