Point of Sale / Phone Ordering Module
Hello,
My company is soon moving to xCart 5. We've languished for years in an old version of 4 and it's time to make the step-forward as we really like all of the new functionality of 5. However, one major issue we're running into is the ability to process orders in the admin area and return a printable invoice. Our business model includes a healthy amount of telesales. Sales reps will call their customers and their customers will place an order over the phone. A sales rep, using the point of sale / phone order module made by BCS Engineering on the back-end will then populate a point of sale form which pulls products directly from our site and processes the order as if it were an order placed on the front end. This ultimately allows for a sales rep to more efficiently place orders on a customers behalf as opposed to coming through the entire sites front end and placing items in the shopping cart. We've contacted BCSE about an xCart 5 module but they said they are still 4-6 weeks out from having one done. We've also requested a quote from xCart for such a custom implementation. My question is....does anyone know of any similar modules currently available that has the same functionality? |
Re: Point of Sale / Phone Ordering Module
There is a point of sale module for X-Cart 5. I helped develop its predecessor for X-Cart 4.
http://www.x-cart.com/pos It is geared at being a point of sale for retail environments. That said, it does allow easy order creation, as long as you know the sku numbers. Not exactly what you are looking for though. |
Re: Point of Sale / Phone Ordering Module
We may have it ready early. It just depends on development time. We have quite a bit of it done already and it looks really exciting and improved with even more features! Do you have a time frame you need it by? We can certainly try to achieve it if it's possible!
Thanks, Carrie |

I DID see this when I was reviewing demos for xcart 5 - we don't use SKU numbers (per se) or barcodes. We just use item codes which we create ourselves when we add products. Would this mod work for something like that? That's the one thing I couldn't glean from the video for this. |

We were actually hoping to be up and running before the holidays, but there's just been a lot going on. We're making a push to get rolling ASAP now though. There is a possibility that upgrading and the data transfer and the subsequent tweaking of everything will stretch the time line out further - allowing time for the new POS mod by you guys to be finished. The one thing I wasn't clear on in the email I got from you guys is the potential 4-6 week timeframe for finished and available for consumer purchase or finished and ready to be beta tested...? |

Hi Brandon, We're currently estimating a couple weeks for beta testing. Shouldn't be too long! Let me know though if you have more questions! Thanks, Carrie |

This is the mod from BCSE that we're currently using on our old site http://www.bcsengineering.com/store/point-of-sale_phone-ordering-x-cart-addon-v2.html This is what we're hoping to achieve when I say "point of sale" |

Not sure what kind of timeline you're saying here. Starting with the present moment - you folks will be beta testing for the next two weeks? Or you guys are 2 weeks away from starting beta tests? |

Ready to beta test in about 2 weeks. You are welcome to be part of that if you'd like! We'd love to have your input! If you don't have a test X-cart 5 to use, we could probably set you up on a test site here. Just reply back to the ticket if you want to be part of that. Thanks, Carrie |
