WordPress Integration

I'm looking at the various options for integrating WordPress with the new store.

I can see there is a module that creates WordPress within the store and another module that allows embedding of products in WordPress.

I have a heavily modified theme for X5. If I install the module, will there be much work to make the WordPress pages match the site?

Alternatively, does the embedding products module work with a standalone version of WordPress? This way I can install WordPress using Softaculous (and have it maintain updates) and let the client choose a WordPress theme.

It's hard to tell if they will be issues with your theme without being able to see the code.
I have had couple clients who customized their X-Cart templates but the Blog System module worked great for them out of the box.
The WordPress widget is integrated to the "center" view list, so you will need to make sure that this view list is present in the page layout at yoursite.com/?target=blog and you'll be fine.
I would also advise to read the instruction carefully, it is available at http://kb.x-cart.com/display/XDD/Blog+System+in+X-Cart

Yes, the "WordPress integration" module works with a standalone installation of WordPress.

Re: WordPress Integration

I have installed the modules and installed Wordpress into a sub folder \wp but just get page unknown

is there a real idiot guide on how to get this working or is the Blog System in XCart needed for this

Re: WordPress Integration

try subfolder /blog

I'm not sure it will work in any other subfolder. It gets re-written by the clean URL functionality anyway.

I have renamed the folder to blog and made the changes in the WP admin as still I can only get to the admin side and not the /blog

slowly plodding along

I guess you've seen the 'manual'? It's a bit disorganised..

Re: WordPress Integration

i saw it but thought it related to the $149 additional module as im not interested in paying for something im unsure about

Thought the Wordpress integration and REST modules would be all i needed on the xcart side but will take a peak

Could you please try to change the permalink type in WordPress to default if it is set at something else?

Re: WordPress Integration

I think i may have this the wrong way round - using the xctart integration is this just so I can link items to a wordpress site and not having wordpress inside my shop ?
