Looking for Web 2.0 Style Templates

I want to change the style of my site so that it is less cluttered and better laid out. The default product pages (based on default 3-col skin) are a mess at the moment and I am sure this is putting off visitors as their eyes are not being directed to where I want them to be looking.

I like the Web 2.0 style with larger buttons, more whitespace etc. Some add-ons already have this look and feel (X-Cloud Search for example.

Other good sites are www.oscium.com This site sells add-ons for the iPad etc to turn them into test instruments. It has an "Apple" look and feel.

I could redesign the templates of my store www.TheDebugStore.com but it would save me a lot of time to modify an existing template that was almost there.

Does anyone have any ideas or could recommend such a template or skin?

Thanks guys

As far as I know there are no resent modern skin templates for XC. XC stock ones are very outdated. All 3rd party ones are also 2-3 years old. You can check TheXCartStore, yBizz , maybe they are close to what you are looking for

There are no XC html5/css3 templates at all anywhere... unless you have someone put one together for you from scratch...

Thanks Phil

I have taken a look at ReBOOTv2 and its good, but too busy for the effect I am after.

I need the pages to be clean and simple with bold icons such as coloured ticks and buttons.

reBoot is a great place to start. Any truly custom look takes coding. Starting with a responsive template based on Bootstrap makes it much easier, IMHO.

You are right Kman. I've done some more research and reBOOT looks like a good option. You are clearly sold on it!

Going down the responsive template route also makes sense before major cosmetic changes are made to the site.

Well, I have now purchased the licence and will get started...

Well, I've installed reBOOTv2. The installation wasn't as complex as some mods and it ran perfectly first time.

Not being able to find an "ideal" template that meets my spec, I chose reBOOT as the closest I could get on the basis that I could at least modify it.

I must say that any skepticism I had has now been blown away. This is an amazing mod. Even the default theme packs a punch!

The mod installs a new skin which you select in the normal way.

There are so many configuration settings to help you tailor the skin without having to touch any code. I reckon this will take me to about 95% of where I need to go. It even includes selectable templates for the product pages.

:D/
