Shipping to multiple recipients
 

Has anyone done a mod for shipping to multipple recipients? Any idea what would be involved?

The idea is for a gift site and the customer placing the order would specify a shipping name and address other than their own and would be able to continue to do this for many recipients, but the customer would only make one payment. The main caveat may be the shipping would have to be calculated for each recipient - probably means the mod would create multiple orders in one process and then total up the costs and put that in the "master" order. Hmmm - I see the need for linking the orders as well, so the admin can track them properly.

Any thoughts or ideas?

We have the same requirement, so we have added a delivery address to every item by using the product options, we intend to remove the shipping address altogether. Our shipping cost is included in the price of the item to keep it simple.

it is not live to customers yet but the site is operational, we have only looked at functionality to date so excuse the 'out of the box' look !!

That seems like a reasonable work-around. Wouldn't suffice if I need to track individual shipping though or wanted to charge specific shipping charges for each delivery address.

It may work though for what my client needs.
