Products serving as 'gift vouchers'
I need to sell products as though they are gift vouchers. The products are gift experiences, so the 'vouchers' won't be redeemed via x-cart in the usual way, instead the client will manually check-off the voucher against those sold when the holder of the voucher has booked their experience.
What we think we need for it to work is a unique identifier for each and every product in the checkout, so like the order number but applied to each product sold so that each 'voucher' can be check-off when its been spent with the client. Is there any way to give each product in the order a unique identifier number? |
Re: Products serving as 'gift vouchers'
Unless you also use Gift Certificates, I would try hijacking that system for this purpose. It assigns a code to each one sold, customers can check the status, it has an admin interface, and it sends the certificate by email.

Re: Products serving as 'gift vouchers'
I would really love to find a solution to this - surely someone has done this with x-cart?

There is a module PIN codes for XC4 and 5, it may help you with this

Re: Products serving as 'gift vouchers'
Hey - thanks Steve, I will look into this. I notice there are quite a number of off the peg solutions in WordPress for this situation, though nothing at all for x-cart, which is frustrating as we'd much prefer x-cart.
Thanks again! |
Re: Products serving as 'gift vouchers'
Steve are you sure this is provided in x-cart 4?
