Remove Sort By Options in product listing
 

How do I remove the sort by options in product listings in 4.6.1? I'm pulling my hair out here.

It needs to be commented out of the appropriate template. I don't see any option in admin settings to remove it.

Yeah, I got that far. There are two files that I can see (based on the html rendering of the source code) where the code that needs to be commented out might reside. I did so in both instances and nothing happened. I am beyond frustrated.

Sorry that it is so frustrating. What skin (template) are you using?

Have you tried webmaster mode? What templates did you comment out the sort options in?

I'm using the Ideal Comfort template in this case. I guess the REAL problem is that when you click on a manufacturer, sometimes all of the products associated with that manufacturer are listed, and sometimes they're not. Resetting how the products are sorted in the admin panel will take care of the problem, but the minute someone sorts the listing in the storefront, they will disappear again. I can't for the life of me figure out why this is happening, so I thought I'd remove the option to sort the listing of the products.

As far as I can tell, the file with the code to comment out is skin/common_files/customer/search_sort_by.tpl. (The FashionWalk template also has this file, but that doesn't apply here.) Webmaster Mode is no good for this.

Look at line 47:

Just change sort=true to sort=false

I would recreate this template in ideal_comfort and make the change there, rather than edit the common_files directory at all.
