Couple of Questions, New Install

Hey Guys.. I've used Lite Commerce in the past, but just bought and installed X-Cart :)

Please take a look at www.patrioticguns.com
I have two questions..

1. How can I resize the top part of the page to fit my logo, height=212?

2. With the affiliate program, what is the syntax for a text referral? Is it something like www.patrioticguns.com?affiliate=username

Thank you so much!
Phil

Re: Couple of Questions, New Install

1. use firefox/firebug to see what the code is trying to do
2. use webmaster mode to discover the template and/or variables that are being called
3. the logo could be called from css

re: affiliate program -- don't even THINK of using the built in affiliate module.
a) any affiliate worth having will not work with you directly;
b) there are countless affiliate networks with reasonably good tracking and dashboard. We use LinkShare, but many advertisers and affiliates seem to like share-a-sale.

The point is: use a network -- there are far too many moving parts in an affiliate program. X-Cart should just remove the module, since it's functionally useless. You are MUCH MUCH MUCH better off with a 3rd party.

Thanks for the response.
I am having trouble finding which section to modify for the logo still... does anyone have 30 seconds to look at it for me and help me out? Thanks.

Also, to understand your comment about the affiliate program, do people not trust when it is all in house? or does it go beyond that and the module itself doesn't work well?

Your image is 500x212
You're gonna have to do some math and change sizes of all related header classes - and move some absolute and relative positioned divs.
Firebug will help you.

Yes.

Re: Couple of Questions, New Install

Nevermind, I found it.
For those that may be struggling in the future..
skin > ideal_comfort > css > altskin.css and modify the two header sections towards the top.
