Test module doesn't work and can't find logs
 

When I click Test Module on the X-Payments Connector page in the admin area, I'm given the error:

I checked the logs in the admin area and in X-payments. They're all empty.

Where else should I check to figure out what is going on?

Ok, I found the log file be going directly to /var/log directory. Why couldn't I view these logs through the admin interface?

In any case, here is what I found and I'm hoping someone has some insight.
