Altered Cart Upgrading Issue
 

Well I just found out that Altered Cart has changed their policy regarding there updates to the product.

Now I do not paying for upgrades to software, but when I purchased the products, I purchased then with free updates to all future versions of X-Cart.

Now that I upgraded me store to 4.4.4, I went to check for the upgrade pack and was informed that their was a charge for upgrading the software. There was no notification of this change.

So I submitted a trouble ticket to find out what the latest versions of the software were so I would know if I needed to purchase the upgrade. I received an email stating to look in the downloads folder of my account. Now the problem is that the downloads folder only list the version for 4.1.x branch.

I would not call this a good business practice.

Just venting as it looks like I will have to buy the upgrade just to find out if I have the latest version of the software.

bill changed it as people where not will to pay for support as this was his way of covering costs

i think the new way to paying for a new tree is the best option really all other mod makers give you 3 months free max then pay again so free within that versions tree is best

he got alot of pressure to change and even though i am the same as you brought when it was free for life i dont mind paying a small fee to change major versions

but thats me i can understand why you was upset but he makes great mods and i want more
