Look but don't Buy... Non-active Cart
I am designing a new site. Client is not ready to have to take online purchases yet, maybe a year or two. Is there an easy way to disable/remove the cart/checkout links, buttons and pages, so people can look at the items and not be confused that they aren't able to purchase anything? A way that doesn't interfere with my ability to switch the cart back to active mode in the future. What settings and templates would I need to adjust? Any specifics would be most appreciated.

Re: Look but don't Buy... Non-active Cart
You need to comment out the "buy", "add to cart" buttons, quantity boxes... from products_t.tpl, products_list.tpl, product.tpl, product_details.tpl... there could be other, you can place a switch in admin and use an if statement to check if the switch is on/off to show/hide these features

Brilliant! A "switch", tell me more. Do you have an example of what the text looks like?

You have to create new option in config table and then use its value to on/off these features. The text can be anything you want
