general coding question
 

Hi - I'm worried that if I modify code, any subsequent bug fixes may overwrite my new code, and there will be issues with any subsequent upgrades. Do I neeed to worry about this? At the moment I've been careful to keep all my storefront and system tweaks to those available via the standard control panels.

Upgrades will not overwrite changes you make. The worst to happen is with any future upgrade you may need to manually apply them to some files
