Products with 2 Options

We have products with 2 options. The second option depends on the first option that is selected.
I could upload all possibles and use exceptions but then the customer would be selecting unavailable combinations most of the time.
What I need is to have the second option box change to only the allowable choices depending on the first option box.
If worse came to worse I might have to redirect to a new webpage for each option in the first combo box.
Has anyone had this problem before. It is a rather common practice with any other programs I have worked with.

Hi,

We have done this for many of our customers. We call it as "Dependent options" feature. If you want to know the reference URL, please drop us an email to sales@mercuryminds.com. We will send it.

Thank you.

Re: Products with 2 Options

You are saying how many products you have with these particular options but as long as it is only one or a few it shouldn't be too difficult.

Let me give an example to explain how it works. Lets say we a product named "sticks" that are sold in several heights and widths (we can include lengths as well but it is not needed for the example). Also, to simplify, we will only use 1, 2, and 3.

First we make option called "height" and make 1, 2, and 3 as the options. Then we make option called "width" and make 1, 2, and 3 as the options. This will allow all combinations, but since a combination of 1 x 2 is actually the same as 2 x 1 we need to make 2 x 1 an exception. We need to do this for 3 x 1 as well.

The place we do this is in the product options for the product named "sticks". There are drop-down boxes for each option you make that will allow you to add each exception necessary.

If you have a lot of products you need to do this to then perhaps the solution is the commercial one suggested earlier in this thread, but if it is just a few it isn't as tough as it appears once you get the hang of how it works.
