main page image
 

I am trying to give the client the ability to change an image on the main page of the store via the admin. I was thinking of using Content => Files in the admin.

The problem though is that the uploaded image is given permissions of 600 and the image does not display on the main page.

How / Where can I allow the client to upload the main image on a regular basis via the admin? Will the "Files" management allow for this somehow?

Just a thought but instead of using the "files" folder what if you used the "templates" folder and created a new directory (something like "banner" or "main_image")? Then add a link to a image in welcome.txt to yourdomain.com/skin/banner/main-image.jpg. The admin can then upload a "new" main-image.jpg in the edit templates section... just be sure to tell them to not edit or replace anything outside of the "banner" folder.

I haven't tried this to see if it would work, but it should.

Maybe make a label in the Languages, then call that label where ever it is you want the image to be.

Then they can just update the label content, as needed. This way they won't have to go mucking around in the code!
