Minicart - How do I make the Quantity unchangable?
I'm working with v4.4.3 and the aqua_marine theme. When a customer adds a product to their cart, then clicks the "cart full" icon, a popup opens with the items in their cart. It displays the product name, the quantity, and the price. It also has links to "view cart" and "checkout".
Now, here is my question... why does the customer have the ability to change the quantity displayed in the quantity box (why is it a box?), but then it doesn't save the "change" made? I want either the quantity to be "fixed" so the customer can't alter it, or the ability to "save" the change when they do. How would I do this? I prefer the customer not being able to change it in this box. |
Re: Minicart - How do I make the Quantity unchangable?
Maybe I am being unclear.. what I want to do is make the little quantity box in the Ajax mini-cart "not editable". Right now, the customer can change the quantity in the box but the edit never gets updated. Any help?

There is a setting in admin if customers can change quantity in cart but not sure if it applies to minicart as well (it should)

I want to keep the ability for the customer to edit their cart. The problem is, the Ajax mini-cart allows the customer to change the quantity but doesn't save the change. This can get confusing for the customer, and seems kind of pointless to allow the change at all. Why it would be a input text field without a submit button is beyond me. |
Re: Minicart - How do I make the Quantity unchangable?
OK, I've checked and verified this...
Somewhere between version 4.3.2 and 4.4.3 the Ajax minicart was changed. In version 4.3.2 when the customer clicks on the "cart full" image a popup opens and the customer can edit the quantity in the cart and there are "update" and "clear cart" buttons. In version 4.4.3 both of these buttons are missing. I verified this in the demo using the Vivid Dreams Aquamarine scheme. Is this a bug, and if so how can I fix it? I reported it in bugtracker. |

Did you get an answer to this question. It seems crazy that there's no 'update' in the ajax minicart.

Re: Minicart - How do I make the Quantity unchangable?
I reported it in bugtracker. Here is the url
https://bugtracker.qtmsoft.com/view.php?id=40060 The only response received was July 19 when they reported "Your problem report has been forwarded to our specialists and will be processed soon." |
Re: Minicart - How do I make the Quantity unchangable?
So "soon" is more like "in 3 or 4 years"? It just seems like such a sloppy mistake that it frustrates me. I think I'm going to take a look at coding in an 'update' link, so that the customer can change quantities and 'update'.
I'll share if I get it working. -JM |

I got it working on my cart. I'll try to compress into something I can share. It wasn't too bad to do.

Re: Minicart - How do I make the Quantity unchangable?
x-cart is saying it isn't a bug... that all you have to do is enter the change and hit the enter key. For a cart that uses buttons for virtually everything else that is extremely poor programming.
