Can I hide categories from menu but still have them viewable
 

Hi All,
I am trying to figure out if there is a way to hide a category from appearing on my side menu navigation but still have that category viewable if you know the url.

I created a new category for a special sale to people that are on an optin list. I want the people on the optin list to be able to see the page if I give them the url but do not want the category appearing on the menu- so that people that are not on the opt in list are unaware of the special sale price.
I know I can issue a special coupon that only people on the optin list get but not everything in the store is on sale which is why I created a new category to place these items in. I would love to not have this category show up on the nav- so non-optin shoppers are unaware of whats going on.

Hope I have explained this clearly. As always many thanks in advance to any and all that can give me a clue as to what to due.
