Changes Wont Save

Hello,
I am new to the XCART software... Anyways, I go into webmaster mode and get my homepage with the green text and try to change the text. I am able to change it and it shows my changes after I hit SAVE but then when I look online with another browser, I dont see the changes...

I have cleaned my cache and checked with multiple machines / browsers.

Any Ideas??? Thank you in advance.

4.2.0 was extremely buggy and rather unusable. You should upgrade to the latest stable release of 4.2, as I'm 90% sure that is the issue.

Thank you... Is the upgrade FREE ? Also do I need to upgrade to 4.3.2 and then to 4.4.2 or can I got from 4.2 right to 4.4.2 without issues?

You don't need to go to 4.4, just the stable release of the 4.2 branch. If you go to 4.4 you can only use the database, you can't upgrade your templates and php files. Yes, all upgrades are free.

ok... so does it matter that the next 4.2.3 is "out of guarantee"??? Or should i got to 4.3.2 that is guarantee?

Thanks and sorry for all the newbie questions.

Everything is out of guarantee, doesn't matter, that is just them covering their a**. 4.2.3 is just as stable if not more stable than 4.4.

Thanks. Curious if I upgrade, if things will break within my store.... hope not. Thanks again.

Well, you have to make a backup of all of your files and the database before you upgrade. Upgrades within a site branch are usually pretty straightforward though.

balinor,
So when i have all my files backed up and saved.... then run the update ... will I have to install the database again? Thanks.

Re: Changes Wont Save

No, the upgrade script includes database updaters. The only reason you would have to restore the db is if something goes wrong.
