Tooltips in IE8 on 1-page checkout not going away

I've had four complaints from four customers now who have been unable to checkout because a tooltip of one field or another simply won't go away, preventing them from entering text in the covered field.
I tried to recreate the same issue, but couldn't. However I've had the same complaint described to me by four customers now. The last customer I was speaking with was using IE 8
Has anyone had a similar issue?

You might try asking in this thread. There is a work around there, but not an idea solution. The thing that is concerning is that people in that thread report QT has not been able to duplicate the issue, so odds of it getting fixed in 4.4.2 are low if that is true. But, maybe the people in that thread have more up to date information.

Thanks gb2world! It's a workaround that removes the functionality, but it's FAR better than loosing customers!

I'm going through an upgrade to 4.4.1 right now, being performed by QT, and they recently got it to where I could test it. I had this very same problem happen, right on their test server.

If you resize your browser window enough, the underlying fields will move around enough that you can get to them, but that's hardly a solution that I can suggest to my customers.

This problem alone was enough to tell me to use FastLane Checkout instead until at least 4.4.2. (There were a number of other problems with 1-Page Checkout too, so having the workaround in the other thread won't make me switch back, but this was the one that made me make the decision.)

HA! Good to know they finally got it "reproduced"!!
What's so bad about 1-page checkout that everyone dislikes? If it's so insecure, why would QT release a product like that? Doesn't make sense to me, but I'd like to make my customer's experience safer and better - why do you like Fast lane?
Thanks!

"They" didn't reproduce it. I did, and I haven't been able to do it again. They haven't seen it, and tell me they can't reproduce it.

And it's not that it's insecure - it's just unstable. Not being able to check out doesn't make it insecure, just unusable.

Fastlane is much more mature, having been in use for several years. It's had time to have its bugs stomped. As for why a software company would release software before a proper QA has been completed, ask Microsoft (or, really, any software company these days). It's far easier to screw up your customer's systems and deal with the fallout than it is to convince management to forgo revenue by giving testing an extra month.

The price of progress.
