checkout

How do we make it that when a customer clicks on add to cart they get taken to their cart straight away? I saw someone try to buy something from my site and they clicked add to cart (they were only buying one thing) and then didn't have a clue what to do - not good:)

There is a checkbox in your General Settings - "redirect customer to cart". Check that :)
