Newest Added products list for x-cart : 4.4.x compatible
 

Hi All,

Announcing that our moduel, the Newest Added products list for x-cart is now fully tested on X-cart 4.4.x .

Automatically lists the most recently added products on any page you wish. You can control the number shown and the date range shown, for example "show the 7 newest products added in the last 3 weeks"
You can randomly display new products, or show the newest products in order from oldest to newest or newest to oldest automatically.
Comes with three versions:

• with product thumbnails.
• simple text links
• 3 column layout

You can also edit the TPL files easily just like any x-cart tpl.

Hello,

I recently purchased this mod and I cannot get it to work.

The instruction files says:

2.) Upload all the .tpl files to xcart/skin/common_files

3.) Add the following line to xcart/skin/common_files/customer/main/welcome.tpl where you would like this information to appear:
{include file='customer/fts_newest_products.tpl'}

Is this correct?

How would I get the newest products to display on their own page, say example.com/newest-products ?

I have figured out how to add a link to the Category area but do not know how to make the link that says "Newest Products" actually show the newest product. I chose the 3 column layout as the display template.

The provided instructions do not seem to be correct. The files should be uploaded to:
xcart/skin/common_files/customer

Not sure why you need my URL to tell me how to create a page that will display the newest products.

Hello Digiemp,

To create a page with newest products you simply create a new Static X-cart page (not a root one).

Add the tag below to the static page (where you would normally enter text)

{include file='customer/fts_newest_products.tpl'}

Now if you visit the page you should see the newest products appearing. However if you visit it and you see the text above then you need to turn Smarty Parsing on for static pages.

This is normally a checkbox located at the bottom of the x-cart page list, which says

"Parse Smarty tags in the content of embedded pages"

I have successfully created a page that displays the newest products. Thank you for the detailed instructions. However, when viewing the page with IE, I get quite a few errors.

Hi there,

I just had a look at your site (the one sent in PM) and it's appearing fine for me in IE, Chrome and FF. You might want to try the usual of cache clearing, and running the x-cart cleanup command as well.

You looked at mysite/newest-products ?
The page does appear fine, that is, it loads and the images are present. However, IE clearly states "Done, but with errors on page." in the lower left of the browser. So the page works, but it isn't professional to have the error display.

You sent me your page via a PM and I just popped on there but a few moments ago.

I'm on IE9 so that would explain why I don't see those errors. I'll ask one of the other techs to take a look at this.
