Server image directory set to 'files' instead of 'images'
Hi, I'm trying to set up products, using images that I have already FTPed to the server, in the relevant 'images' directories, such as '/images/D/' etc. but when I go into Product Management, then click on the 'Change Image' button, and choose 'File on this server' 'Browse', it shows me the contents of the 'files' folder, and when I click on the 'up' option (../) it just refreshes and shows me the 'files' folder again.
Does anybody know how to fix this? I am trying to work out where the 'Files on this server' 'Browse' option gets the location that it's going to show you from. Many thanks in advance for any help. |
Re: Server image directory set to 'files' instead of 'images'
The image files for products are stored in /images/ as you expect.
However, the 'Select files' feature is jailed to the /files/ directory (which is likely to prevent security issues.) If you need want to select on the server, I would suggest moving the images into the files directory and selecting from there. |
Re: Server image directory set to 'files' instead of 'images'
Many thanks Shane, I thought it was just some setting that needed adjusting. I can easily upload the files again to the 'files' folder, and work from there.

Sorry to bring this old post up. Isn't there a way to change this? Anyone?

Re: Server image directory set to 'files' instead of 'images'
The easiest way to do add your photos is to create a "backup_images" folder in the "files" sub directory using the same format as in the images folder (/D, /P, /T, etc.), and upload your images there.
Then you can either add the product images individually, or using a .csv using the filepath suggested in x-cart (.../images) and the images will automatically be added to the "images" directory. Also, never "change" the image. Delete it and add a new one. This will prevent the subsequent images being altered to "imagename-01.jpg", "imagename-02.jpg", etc. in your "images" folder. I hope this helps. |
