Starting new site - Looking for Templates/Skins
 

So prior to the 4.4 release I was playing around with the free download of 4.3 using the Neon Lights skin. Now that I've purchased the 4.4 version I see that the Neon Lights skin series is no longer available. Unfortunately for me, it offered a lot of what I was looking for as far as basic storefront features. Now I seem to be lost. Does anyone know of any sites that offer templates/skins compatible w/ XCart 4.4 that would provide me w/ more options than what XCart has?

You can use 4.3.2 version. 4.4 is not stable yet. And you bought an xcart license not a license for a specific version.. So if 4.3. is giving you what youi are looking for and 4.4 doesn't just use 4.3.2

I've just migrated data from v4.3.2 cart to v4.4 cart. I use the word "migrate" has a special meaning. You cannot just backup and restore all data from v4.3 cart. You need to know a bit database structure in order to restore it. It takes me a day to do it, not counting the time to upgrade modules, pages, and templates. Once you got into v4.4, I think you shouldn't go back because upgrading from v4.3 to v4.4 is painstaking. However, the new features are great. The problems are I cannot use my old template and some modules are immediately out-updated. The template file structure is total changed!

The only way now is to wait for new templates coming out or start hiring someone to design a new template for you. I just take a little time to modify the basic template for a few changes.

Jondoe, do you know if QT will release a way to just backup and restore from 4.3 to 4.4 at some point? A database upgrader?

The database upgrader will be coming, probably when they release 4.4.1. You can't backup and restore though, you need to upgrade.

umm...no, I don't know. I thought they will not release it because I'd read somewhere saying there was no upgrade patch to upgrade from v4.3 to v4.4.Anway, next time, I should wait for at least 3 months before the upgrade.
