Smart Search Index problem
 

Hi

I purchased Altered Cart's Smart Search three days ago. Installation all went fine. When i try to Build English Smart Search Index, new window opens with a message "Rebuilding the Smart Search Index". I waited for 17 hours, but nothing happens. No new entries in MySQL and no new processes are running in the control panel. I couldn't locate the problem.

Did you open a ticket with the vendor?

I wrote to Bill through email. He says:

"You will need to keep the database update page open.

1. Click the cancel index link on the smart_search_admin.php
2. Re-start the index, but leave the page open as it cycles through the products."

I tried it, but nothing seems to be happening. No cpu load and no MySQL entries.

Ok, then respond to his ticket with that info - he'll offer you some other options, or look into it himself.

I have already responded. I am expecting his reply only by tomorrow.

I am also trying with different settings. But no luck.

If you could guide me, what settings should i check ?

Is there a way to delete full description field from the Search Index ?

Also, Does Smart Search shows any updating message, while building Index ?

Yes - please keep us up to date - I had this mod and loved it for our older 4.1.8 cart system. Need to get this done for the new one as well.

Do you have any clues, why it won't create the Search Index ? I have been trying this from last three days, but couldn't get through. I have tried so many things. Deleted and recopied all the smart search files. Checked the installation instructions, etc.

I will definitely keep this thread updated, Vacman.
