Anyone know an add-on similar to XCartMod's Quick Search which works for 4.3
 

XCartMod's Quick Search add-on does exactly what we need it to. Unfortunately it's only compatible with 4.1 and 4.2 - and we're running 4.3.

Does anyone know another add-on with similar functionality?

I got it working on a 4.3 site - don't think it was too tricky to do - suggest you try and install it - don't forget 4.3 code isn't that different from 4.2 in many cases.

Do you remember what you needed to do to get it to work? Did it involve any messing with the code? (Our x-cart skills aren't really up to that.)

It's mainly javascript files anyway - and so the mod takes the form of a proper module - so the majority of it runs independently of the main x-cart code - so it's not a big job getting it to work on 4.3 if you use the 4.2 files.
All you have to do is take the code they supply in the head template and swap that into your own template - that's about as complicated as it gets really.

OK, I might give it a go, then. If I get stuck, might you be able to answer questions for me? If you're too busy I won't be offended, but it would be such a help to be able to go to someone who's already got it working.

Alternatively, do you have the capacity do do it for us? And if so, what would it cost?

I've installed Quick Search in 4.3 and it doesn't work.

No, sadly not. Reports suggest that pauldodman may have been thinking of a different add-on - apparently there's more than one called Quick Search. The one he used worked, the XCartMod one doesn't.
