Need help with thumbnails
Hi,
For some reason thumbnails on my site lost the name and instead they get # and letters with.png (example : xctmpykqd8h.png when it was uploaded as Dog-Toothbrushes.jpg ) It's ONLY the thumbs, other images keep the name and the.jpg Anybody has an idea why and how to change it? Thanks, Tammy |
Re: Need help with thumbnails
I don't think that will happen if you upload your own thumbnail. If you upload the product image only, then have X-CART generate thumbnails for you, then it will create the thumb and give it a semi-random name.

Re: Need help with thumbnails
If it's true then i can't really understand the logic behind it. Why xcart does not keep the original name. On one hand they give us tool to make life easier and on the other hand it hurts the seo.
Maybe there is a code to keep the file name? Thanks. |
Re: Need help with thumbnails
If you don't get response in the forum from someone willing to dig in to the code, you could try adding a feature request to http://ideas.x-cart.com/

Re: Need help with thumbnails
Sorry if I may be wrong, but I have not experienced this problem.
I upload my text files, they contain both thumbnails and images and x-cart does keep the naming conventions, something it just adds a "-01" to it. for example: [Products] ProductID|Thumbnail|Image 11001|ants.jpg|ant.jpg the path to these images are on my hard drive, so I would specify when I upload the text files that the images are stored here: c:\mypictures\ When I click upload the images are then placed in their respective folders in xcart, T ( for thumbnails) and G ( for images) --- I could be wrong with the folder names, I am not at my home computer, but u get the point. In side there those folder located in X-cart you can see that the image should retain their names that I have previously set out. The only thing is that sometimes the image may turn up with: ants-01.jpg or ant-01.jpg Don't know why but its not a big problem for me. Hope this helps? Also you may want to clarify how you are uploading or creating these products, there may be a difference in the method used for creating the products. Thanks, Akhil P. |
Re: Need help with thumbnails
I upload the images to the files directory, then generate thumbnail in the product page.
