Custom skin changing admin layout too
Hi,
I'm finished skinning a new cart, but the layout in the admin seems to be different now. Seems to be a 100% wide layout, sidebar is up against the left and is just plain text. I'd like to get back the original styling in the admin, isn't this separate from the skin1 directory? How did this happen? I also noticed that with the newer versions, I've been forced to choose a Scheme, which ends up screwing up the design because there are additional files, duplicate CSS styles, etc. Could that be the issue? Thanks |
Re: Custom skin changing admin layout too
Hi
I thought admin was 100% anyway. You may have overwrote some admin file by mistake, can you just not overwrite admin styles etc.... |
Re: Custom skin changing admin layout too
yes, admin is usually 100% wide, and menus are just plain text.
Admin section is quite generic looking. |
Re: Custom skin changing admin layout too
QT tried to separate admin from front-end but again - not all templates are separate and yes different schemes will put more css and files.

Re: Custom skin changing admin layout too
I know, but it's a little annoying having the text butt up against the left of the browser window. I'm pretty sure it didn't look like this before I worked on the design.
Check the screenshot (attached) - is that the way it's supposed to look? |

Re: Custom skin changing admin layout too
You have obviously edited or overwrittn some files, you say you design, so maybe look into what you have edited etc and do some error checking..
Cannot help any further. |
Re: Custom skin changing admin layout too
Haven't overwritten anything in the admin directory though. Shouldn't this be separate from what I'm editing for the frontend? (well, ideally)
I think the old versions of X-cart were mixed up like this, but I thought they changed that, right? I used the 2-column Light n Lucid skin when I installed the test. Not really happy with this new skin thing though. It installed duplicate CSS styles, a secondary stylesheet called altskin.css so now I have to update 2 stylesheets, main.css and this one - it's a real pain in the... Liked the old way better... |
Re: Custom skin changing admin layout too
Yep in later versions it changed.
I use 3 column Light Lucid and I think most developers do to base there new designs as far as I know within 3 column light and lucid it has no altskin.css (As far as I am aware that's part reason why I base my footprint on the 3 column, less edits etc...and pure flexability with this design What could of happened is for what ever reason you may have accidentally uploaded or altered something from admin area without realising it. And I said to take a look.. Another option is to I suppose overwrite admin area, or reinstall saving your skin1, and uploading back up, there are so many options to correct this, and you need to decide... (What to do).. |
