Image Size Question

The images in my header are png files. They look good but are too large kb wise at 193k and 64k. These are RGB 16 bit files. I have changed them to indexed and 8 bit files but the quality degrades too much. I can change them to 8 bits and leave them as RGB and the files sizes drop to 118k and 34K. This saves about 100k. My question is are these too big at 118k and 34k and if so how can I reduce the file size without killing the quality?

Re: Image Size Question

In Photoshop anything new for Example I Do:
1600x260 (Purpose Background top, is saved as:

PNG8
SELECTIVE
DEFFUSION

Transparency Is Checked
Interlaced is checked
Convert to RGB is Checked

Total Output 21.74 KB

I can only assume your original images are not very good in the first place, is this the case?

Quality Is Fantastic...

Re: Image Size Question

Sorry misread your post a little.
There are some very good Online image resizers and save as with loss-less small file size.

Too your question 118 and 34 depends on if when click on, or when image shows. I wouldn't say it's huge 34, but 118 depends if a large image.

Re: Image Size Question

These are images in my header. The larger is an image which started from a 500k tiff. The smaller is just a logo.
