never log out, no remember me box?
 

So I found this remember me mod:

my question is can you just automatically keep people logged in? I don't see the point in asking? Maybe I have this all wrong...

You don't want to do that - people who use public computers or shared computers would be REAL unhappy. Hence the checkbox.
