Email as username
Looking for a third-party mod that will allow my customers to login using their emails.
Ideally, the mod should allow the customer to change their emails in the future and still have their order history/wishlists/etc. cross referenced to the new email. Is this kind of mod out there? |
Re: Email as login id
I would really like to use the email as the login id. Insisting that customers make up a username causes too many problems when they don't remember it. Too many "Failed login attemp" emails in my admin email. Then, to make things worse, if they try to fill in the Contact Us form, it insists on them giving their username. I'm sure this is costing me repeat business.
How can I get rid of the username and use their email address as the login id? Thanks, Steve. |

Username in Contact Us form - you can take out from admin (Settings/Contact Us), I don't see the point of this being there. What if a non-customer wants to send you a message - they have to register first? There are several posts with solutions in the forum about email used as username |
Re: Email as username
Taking this one step further...how to do the switch on an established store with x number of customers already using a username? Do they need to register again?

That would be really bad. We need to migrate it in background while we implement this feature as part of it. The customer wouldn't see any problem. |
