What would cause IE8 to reload on every click
I look after a couple of sites for clients running XCart (well at least I thought I did ).
After just finishing an initial install for a new site and changing a few images etc I thought I check how it looked in IE8, as I always use Firefox myself. Man, what's with the "flashes or page refreshes" every time I click a link. Thought I should check a couple of my more recent sites and to varying degrees they all do the same. Viewed through FF they all appear to work as expected. As a couple of the sites are still work in project it is difficult to provide access at the moment, however you can check here and here to see what I mean. I'm using PNG a lot more recently and is there still a problem with IE 7 & 8 and png files? Is this causing the odd behaviour? Thanks to anybody who may have the time to take a look for me? No refreshing on both - IE8 on WinXP Home. But I get this js error on first one

Re: What would cause IE8 to reload on every click
Thanks Steve for taking a look.
I fixed the second glitch and working on the first, but your saying that in IE the whole page doesnt flash white for a millisecond when clicking between links? I assume it was a page refresh. Damn! Why does it do it for me? |
Re: What would cause IE8 to reload on every click
Don't know. The QT ideas.x-cart.com was refreshing the page all the time for me in IE7,8 until I hit "stop" browser button. Not sure what they did but it doesn't do it anymore

Re: What would cause IE8 to reload on every click
Beetlejuice, just out of curiousity how did you fix the 'swfobject' undefinded problem? I seem to be having the same annoying problem under IE8...

Re: What would cause IE8 to reload on every click
Hi FTI,
I'm not sure how you've called your swf's but I created new .tpl files with the code generated by SWFObject Generator and included those .tpl's wherever I needed them. Stupid me though  forgot to remove all the unnecessary html and just leave the body code. Once all that was cleaned up, my errors disappeared. The main point I've got to chastise myself on is that I'm so used to Firefox etc if I'm under the pump, I sometimes do forget to check in IE occasionally. Safari and Opera I've never noticed any problems either. Internet Exploder should be the correct name :D |
Re: What would cause IE8 to reload on every click
Where is this generator?

Re: What would cause IE8 to reload on every click
Download it from http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/downloads/list

Re: What would cause IE8 to reload on every click
I'm having the same issues in IE7, not on every page, but most of them. (this for example - loads the whole page, then reloads itself).
This was with stock templates too. Although I can't see it on yours anymore, did you fix it. Also in the cart. Add an invalid coupon, then submit. The page will load (as it shuold) and tell you the number is invalid, then it will refresh itself but this time the message will be gone (as it didn't submit anything)... very frustrating. |
Re: What would cause IE8 to reload on every click
Is no one else getting this??? It's happening in my provider area too...
