I need to change the :: in the breadcrumb to > or something similar, where can i do this ?

For v4.2.X, might be the same for your version.

In /skin1/customer/bread_crumbs.tpl:

Change that to whatever you wish, leave the span tags though.

Sorry, then I am not sure where it would be located, I started on 4.2.0 so I don't know the older versions.
