Help For Newbie - Skin Change
 

I have xcart version 4.1.10 - I want to add one of the new skin templates that xcart is offering for free. Can someone please list the steps to complete this.. Thanks

I will bump this b/c I am interested in knowing this as well. I was not able to find any options in the Admin section to do this.

I think you have to start the install process again to change skin

Yes, you are correct. You need to run install.php again, but before you do that login as admin and go the Summary page. You should see a line that says

"Your AUTH code for re-installing skins and installing modules is: XXXXX"

You will need that code to install a new skin (after the skins are uploaded of course)

Make a backup of your site first in case you run into problems!!

Also, you will need to change permissions on some of the files (install.php for sure - if you did not delete it)

Is there not an easier way to change the skin? I'm kinda afraid to reinstall the whole thing esp if you have hundreds of products already in your cart. I only want to change the skin.

You don't have to reinstall the whole cart. Start the install process and on the second screen I think there is a check box to install skin only and no db changes. It will install skin1 directory only and non of the other files or tasbles

How did that work for you? I was thinking of changing the skin to one of the free ones from X Cart, but haven't a clue how to do it.
