UPS Shipping Module

I'm moving into UPS world and most likely will ditch Canada Post or offer just one or two shipping optionds depending on price. I was curious if anyone is using UPS mods where you can make labels and retain tracking info in the store.

any mod suggestions?

I'm running their free UPS Track module and it works well. I haven't tried the full-blown shipping one though.

Pros:

- free installation
- good support response time

Cons:

- bare bones instructions, not user-friendly
- no built-in way to test labels
- no way to specify overrides when creating multiple labels
- 30-day trial is from date of purchase, not from when the module is finally ready to test

Only recommend for someone who knows this is exactly what they want and not a beginner.

What do you mean by test labels? By overrides, you mena there's no way to edit the address before sending it off to make a label? Can you edit weight, size, etc or does it take the weight automatically?

FedEx provides a way to have a dev account. This mod lets you choose between live/test. The ability to test this mod and test creating labels using some sort of built-in testing mechanism or account creation would be very help to make sure it is working before hooking it up to a live FedEx account and trying to generate a real label.

You can edit the weight, pkg size, and delivery method when printing a single label. You cannot do this with multiple labels. I don't remember seeing a way to edit the address other than using X-Cart's X-AOM module. It does use the order's weight.

Edited to fix FedEx references. General issues should still pertain.

Oops, just realized the version we used was for FedEx. Sorry for the confusion. I'll edit the post. :) I suspect the general issues are the same.

I use this full module and we love it. We are on macs so until this, we had to manually enter every order into UPS. It was a huge pain. If you have to edit shipping info, you do that in the order before you process it. We just pull up all orders processed and check the ones we want to ship, click ship UPS, it gives the shipping amounts for each order, then click the ones you want to ship or click on an order to edit it if there is a problem or even click ship all. It will automatically create labels which you print. It also puts a copy of the label in each order, it inserts the tracking number into the order and marks it as completed. All done automatically. We have been using it for over a year and LOVE it.

We still ship our internationals USPS, because UPS is too expensive, but for domestic shipments UPS is great about getting the packages there and handling refunds or any other problems. Getting a refund for a lost package from USPS is almost impossible.
