Admin login secure

Hi,
I want to make the backend admin page redirect to https so its always secure when I log in. Any ideas how to do this. I did try the htaccess file, but it did not work.

Why not just make your admin bookmark https?

I already do that (in my browser if thats what you mean), but I have a few staff who sometimes access admin, so I basically would always like it to be secure on login.
