Banner Ads on the main page

Hi All.

I'd like to add a banner ad box at the bottom of the main page and possibly the category pages. Does anyone have instructions for doing this please?

For the main page, modify the /skin1/customer/main/welcome.tpl template

For the categories page, modify the /skin1/customer/main/subcategories.tpl template
