edit xcart logo from head.tpl doesn't work
 

I changed the skin1/head.tpl to put my logo, but it keeps showing the default logo, even if i regenerated the cache and images. I have to change it from somewhere else?

most likely your browser cache... better yet: RENAME the file in the template (and image). This will avoid any image caching issues.

i already renamed it, it was the first i did. After i saw that the change wasn't seen on site, i changed my logo name to xlogo.gif, uploaded it and appeared, but this is not a solution

Of course it's THE solution.
Caching can occur locally (your computer), from your isp, from any number of places between your server and your customer's eyes. So SIMPLY rename the elements.

The sure thing is to rename the logo to YOURCOMPANYNAME_logo_widthxsize.gif, rename the image in the template file, upload the image, and move on.

PS -- this issue has bitten 1000's of newbies over the years - you're not the first, nor the last. Frequently, ISPs cache content - so the ONLY workaround is to rename.

no, you misunderstand. I told it's not the solution to upload my logo as xlogo.gif. I know that the solution is to rename, i just wanted to be sure that i don't have to make that change anywhere else except the head.tpl..

skin1 is in the root. unless you haven't run install.php yet...

You can edit the TPLs in the Skin1 directory by using FTP to download them or through the Templates link in the Admin section.

As far as doing what you want to do, I'd recommend you use an AJAX Script like I did on my clients site. This script allows you to do many different things, such as display many high quality JPGs in series so it looks like an animation. You can also display one or multiple Flash files.

I only used 1 image in the file site, because the client didn't want the animations anymore. However I plan to ticker with a nice Flash file eventually.

One thing I did do since I only used 1 image was modify the tickercontent.txt file to only contain one link.

I haven't tried yet, but I'd bet you could make a JPG Header with image mapping for buttons and such.
