web design

Hi team, i had a potential web designer look at reskinning the cart.

He is asking for a development version of the cart so he can do the mods as he is saying that it is encrypted.

Does he just not know what he is doing?

I thought you could just edit the tpl with a little know how.

Can someone let me know either way?

Yes, I think you are right to be worried - x-cart is completely open source, no encryption at all. If you have some 3rd party mods, you may find they are encrypted, but that's not what is being asked.
X-cart is of course specialist software - for example, we build shops in the background for numerous webdesigners as most of them realise that they don't have the skillset to skin x-cart. But you are right, it's usually just a case of editing the templates. There's certainly no "development" version that differs from a live version. Be careful.

Yep, I'd run for the hills as this person clearly has no idea what they are doing.

Usually the 'development' site is a copy of the 'live' site, so if the 'live' site was encrypted it would still be encrypted as a 'development' site!

I am over the second hill and still running, thanks members.

It is so hard to find someone who is good at both the design or the xcart coding it is either one or the other.

Can anyone recommend anyone?
