User name availability
 

Is there a way to let the customer to check user name availability upfront while filling up the profile details instead of only knowing after submitting the form?

Altered Cart's Checkout One does a search for duplicate usernames (ajax) as soon as the customer enters a proposed username at checkout. Customer does not have to submit a form. Works great!

[edit] -- sorry, I forgot that you are using version 4.2 pro. C1 is only avail for 4.1 -- my apologies. At least it CAN be done with AJAX. Maybe Bill can custom code this for you?

Thanks Philj, I have tried it, seems it is not working with version 4.2. And, I noticed that, there do not have "<input type="text" id="uname" name="uname" size="32" maxlength="32" value="{if $userinfo.uname}{$userinfo.uname}{else}{$userinfo. login}{/if}" />" appearing twice in skin1/main/register_account.tpl for anonymous and non-anonymous registrations.

Anyway thanks, hope will find the solution soon.
