CSS not making sense
 

I have installed 4.2 in a test area on my server.

Now I know I am one of the more dull tools in the shed when it comes to CSS, but this new layout in 4.2 is not clicking.

For example there are classes such as HeadLine and HeadLogo in the head.tpl I cannot find any of these classes in main.css

Would someone be kind enough to pop me in the head so the bats come off of their perches.](*,)

I have used several different editors and used the find on all of them and in my main.css file there is not a HeadLine or HeadLogo anywhere in the doc.

I have used Firebug and still cannot find the HeadLine class or the HeadLogo life in version 4.1.xx of the skin1 file.

Are you sure head.tpl is the file that is actually being used? There are some 'remnants' of 4.1 files in the structure that aren't actually being used.

Yep, head.tpl is a remnant from 4.1.x. 4.2 uses customer/head.tpl.

One thing I have found is that before editing a file, see if there is a "duplicate" in either the customer folder or admin folder before you begin. I'm still trying to figure out why the "old" templates are still there, and I can't come up with a reason other than to confuse people.

Not to confuse people but probably no one bothered to delete these files after trying to split up admin from customer sections.

Finally a 4.2 Forum.. Ya !

I need help... Ive been wasting 2 days with the css in this version.. 3800 lines plus 6 other files.

The header is at the bottom.. Now I must admit.. I kinda like it down there but I would at least need another head at the top of the website...

That sounds like the first thing to do with 4.2.1 :) Of course anyone upgrading will already have the unused templates already in their folders.

Nice try on the not bothering to delete idea but this was a fresh install in a test domain. So the new version has tpl files in it that belong to nothing.

Don't get me wrong here as I love X-cart, but this new release seems to have been thrown together to get it release by a certain date.

I am just trying to do a new layout and be ready once we get a version that is deemed "stable".

Also in this new version in the install it comes up with an error but allows you to continue the install. It wants you to change the following in the php.ini

allow_url_fopen = Off

change to, for example:

allow_url_fopen = On

This is something that affects my hosting company servers throughout their system and is not specific to our domain. Can anyone explain what this is and if it is 100 necessary? My hosting company tells me this will is a security issue on their end and will not change it.
