4.2 - Are there unused templates?

Well, I have finally gotten around to playing with 4.2 but there are some things that are confusing to me.

I discovered that there is a skin1/customer/head.tpl that appears to control the customer side of the store, skin1/head_admin.tpl that appears to control the admin side of the store, and skin1/head_printable.tpl that appears to control customer printed pages, but for the life of me I have not figured out what skin1/head.tpl does. Does skin1/head.tpl serve any purpose?

I realize that in versions of x-cart prior to 4.2 that skin1/head.tpl was used for the customer side of the store, but it appears that skin1/customer/head.tpl has rendered this template obsolete. If this is the case, why is it still there? More importantly, are there other templates I am going to come across that serve no purpose and are simply "leftovers" from some past incarnation of x-cart?

Yea, it looks like there are definitely some leftovers

Have you run across others? Is it ok to just delete them or will this cause problems with future "upgrades"? I guess I don't understand why they are there to begin with.

I think these files are not worthy to spend time on. Just leave them alone ;)
